PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE - SUSAN LEDOUX

Hello Fellow Members of the AACM Family,

It is my privilege to be able to lead the association in this coming year as President.  There are so many benefits to being a part of this great organization that it would be difficult to list them all, however, I will give you my top three…

  • 1.       Real relationships and friendships.  I have been overwhelmed at times when I look back on the lifelong friendships I have been fortunate enough to make during my involvement with the AACM.  The people I have met and have forged friendships with have walked in my shoes as a ‘antonymous’ Manager.  Where you are the sole HR Director, Business Manager, Lead Receptionist, Policy and Procedure maker, developer and enforcer just to name a few.  They understand when I have reached out with questions about any one of these areas in crisis and given sound and appreciated advice or sometimes just a listening ear.
  • 2.       Website that is useful and loaded with information.  The work that has gone into getting the website to where it is today has gone on for years and I in no way take any credit for the success we are experiencing now.  Without the tenaciousness work and effort of former leaders like Lisa Zimmerman or Marena Seifert and the constant updating and tweaking from people like Katherine La Porte it would be just another unused and nonessential website.  The website can be used for so many things like being able to post ‘what about’ questions to job postings not to mention a list of vendors that are happy to support our association and you in your clinic.
  • 3.       The annual conference.  This is a highlight for me every year.  First of all, I get to see all my friends who are of same mind in the same place for a few days.  We as a group get to hear from speakers that are relevant to our business and want to help us in any way they can.  It is always such a positive experience and a lot of fun.

I would like to use that point as a Segway and take this opportunity to have you ‘save the date’ for our conjoined conference with the MGMAC in Canmore this coming June.  There will be an ‘Alberta Day’ on June 11th where we will have speakers like Faith Wood with us again speaking on‘Cracking the Code on Conversational Influence’ and doing some handwriting analysis with us.  It will be a great time.  Please plan to attend and then stay to be a part of the national conference that will run from June 12 – 14th.

I am looking forward to seeing what this year has to offer us as an association and getting to know more of you along our journey.

Hope to see you in Canmore…

Susan Le Doux

President 2017/2018
